After much care and consideration SAS have decided to use Iris Openbooks as their preferred online software solution for customers using their SmartStart service.

The software which would cost individual businesses £25 per month will cost just £15 per month when signing up through SAS saving you £120 per year. The ease of use and set up is one of the major factors but below we have highlighted some of the other key features:

Proactivity

The central control dashboard that SAS have available means that we can review the date of the last entry made by the customer meaning that you will be chased to ensure you are keeping up to date particularly if that VAT Return or year end is looming. With help from SAS you should not miss any deadlines.

Information

The dashboard display for each company is customisable but includes features such as bank balances, profit, approximate corporation tax liability, dividends and therefore profit reserves available for distribution meaning no illegal dividends. A tax timeline with all of your business key dates and the anticipated level of payment ensuring good cashflow forecast. These deadlines can even be linked to Outlook or Gmail so they appear in your calendar.

Sales Invoices

Sales invoices are so easily constructed from the themes within the system or customised invoice templates can be designed. Invoices can be emailed directly to customers from the system saving time and money. You can even set up mulitple follow up reminders for payment and thank you emails when funds received. Think how much time you can save chasing your own money!

Set up recurring invoices for those weekly, monthly, quarterly jobs and don't worry if you have multiple different services or products as Iris Openbooks can cater for this also.

Iris Openbooks can also handle estimates, invoicing by projects, time tracking and multi-currency.

Banking

Import bank statements and allocate the payment and receipt types with the system remembering the allocations so that the next time it does the work for you. The longest and costliest exercise in bookkeeping is usually the bank reconciliation - not anymore. You can also set up a PayPal account and import the details directly into Iris Openbooks saving time and effort.

Purchase Invoices/Expenses

No longer worry about posting items with the wrong VAT codes as the items are listed in categories making it much simpler to get it right. Attach copies of the invoices and receipts directly in to the system so you never need file another document away. You can even get an App so you can take a picture of receipts and invoices and load them into Iris Openbooks.

Mileage

If you make regular mileage claims then you know how much of an effort it can be sometimes. The system takes care of this for you making sure you reclaim the correct amount at the correct rate avoiding any problems with Benefit In Kind.

VAT

Iris Openbooks caters for invoice, cash and flat rate scheme VAT accounting. It even posts the journal entries for you when a VAT Return has been completed and if you ever change schemes it will make the accounting adjustments for you.

Reporting

More reports than you will ever need but well worth keeping track of where you are, who owes you money and who you owe money to.

As you can tell we are massive fans of Iris Openbooks. If you would like more information about Openbooks or our accountancy services please feel free to contact us.
